This is our last post before we depart Tampa tomorrow evening, arriving at Gatwick on Friday morning circa 8.00am UK time.  We  have checked in already and have our seats/beds in business class assured.  We are planning a leisurely start in the morning as we do not have to vacate our condo until 11.00am Florida time.

We played golf today at Heritage Harbour Golf Resort.  We have played this course earlier in the holiday, but nevertheless got lost looking for the 11th tee, as the direction sign had disappeared since our earlier visit!  We eventually  found the 11th tee.  We buddied up with Mike on the first tee who was good company - he was in awe of Liz's putting, who again was either sinking or just missing long putts.

As ever, the weather was fabulous, with blue skies and temperatures in the low 80's F.  There was lots of wildlife, with a hawk, herons, cranes and of course a couple of small alligators.

On the golf side, Ben prevailed with a creditable 32 points.

We ate in devouring very tasty 'New York Strip' steaks, followed  by our now 'traditional' visit to our beach to watch the sunset - everyone we have seen has been different!  This evening ritual is well supported and we have met lots of friendly locals - almost all looking forward to watching King Charles' Coronation!

ball heading for the water! Today was a golf day. We played at Seminole Lake Country Club which was probably the most expensive course we have played at on this holiday. It was in very good condition so worth the money. As fitting to the course name, there was a lot of water to avoid.  One par 3 had a 190 yard carry over water.  We saw a couple of small alligators. alligator alert We were partnered with a family of 3, Kenny, Amber and their son, Carter. Until we started it wasn't obvious which 2 of the three were actually playing. They were all 3 in one buggy and it transpired that Amber was the driver of the buggy and Kenny and Carter were playing. Kenny was a good golfer and Carter was one of 80 children nationally who represents the under 9s in their Drive, Chip and Putt scheme for children. Today was a golf day and we played at Manatee Golf Club, which was about 40 minutes south of us. The course was long for me and I struggled with driving today. It was, however, a pretty course with lots of lakes to go in if you strayed off the fairways. Ben played well with some long putts sunk (he also carved 4 balls from his drives into the water, but has 'erased' that from his memory).  Needless to say,  Ben is keen to return there!  The golf course was under the approach to Sarasota Airport and there was a constant stream of  commercial airliners and business jets descending over the course. Roseate Spoonbill We saw more wildlife today including a baby alligator and a much larger one, an Osprey, as well as a roseate spoonbill bird. After our tea we went to our beach to watch the sunset.  The wedding was in full swing. It was low tide so was a pleasant setting for the the bride and groom who were having lots of photos taken. Travel day can be summed up as a day of queuing.  We had a relatively straight forward drive to Gatwick via the M40/M25/M23.  Needless to say there was some queuing on the M25!  Having arrived at Gatwick South terminal we set off for the bag drop (we had already checked in and got boarding passes the day before) when we were 'redirected' to the main queue (all destinations) as we had oversize bags (golf clubs).  We consequently queued for over an hour before we could check in the bags.  Having deposited suitcases, we were advised we had to take the golf clubs to an oversize luggage check-in - which we expected and was very quick.  The 'idiot' who redirected us unnecessarily should be shot!  Icefields approaching the Canadian Coast (at 38,000 ft) The flight was comfortable and uneventful.  We breezed through immigration to the bag collection area.  Our golf clubs and Liz's suitcase appeared minutes later.  After that no bags appeared and ...
